Yukitoshi Otani  


   Introduction
Since April 2010, Prof. Yukitoshi Otani joined Utsunomiya University at the Center for Optical Research and Education (CORE) as a Professor starting the Polarization and Opto-mechatronics laboratories. In the Polarization laboratory the research topics can be summarized in pursuing engineering implementations of the Mueller and Stokes approaches. The main research topics in the opto-mechatronics laboratory are light driven actuators/manipulators, 3D measurement sensing implementations and interferometry techniques. Polarization topics ranges from high speed measurement, polarization imaging and higher accuracy measurement.

Biography
Prof. Yukitoshi Otani is a professor at Center for Optical Research and Education (CORE), Utsunomiya University, JAPAN. He received his master's degree from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in 1990 and his doctorate degree from the University of Tokyo in 1995. After working for a brief period at HOYA Corp., he was an associate professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology until 2010. He was a visiting professor at College of Optical Sciences, the University of Arizona from 2004 to 2005. He joined at CORE from April 2010. He is also a technical adviser at Imaging Div, Photron Limited from 2011. His current interests include polarimetry and optomechatronics. He is a fellow of SPIE since 2010.
Prof. Yukitoshi Otani is currently chair and technical advisor of several international and national conferences like the International Symposium of Opto-mechatronic Technologies (ISOT) and several SPIE conferences related to Dimensional Optical Metrology, Inspection and Interferometry. He has been director of the Japanese Society for Precision Engineering and secretary of the Japanese Polarization Science and Engineering Group.

Polarization phase shifting techniques, Interferometry, Optical Metrology.

Biography:
David Serrano received his bachelor degree from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in physical engineering (2008), his master degree in optics (2010) from the Centro de Investigaciones en Optica A.C. in Leon, Guanajuato. Mexico and his PhD. in the same institution. His main research field involves optical metrology and polarization phase shifting techniques applied to single shot interferometry measurements. In 2011, he received a SPIE Scholarship for his potential contributions to the field of optics. In 2013 he made a research internship at the Center for Optical Research & Education (CORE), Utsunomiya Univ. Japan and currently occupies a post-doctorate researcher position in CORE.

Biography
Pradipta Mukherjee received his Bachelor in Physics (Honors) (2008) and also Bachelor (2011) and Master (2013) in technology in Optics and Optoelectronics from the Applied Optics and Photonics department of Calcutta University, India. Before Joining as a research student in Otani’s laboratory, Pradipta was working in the Central Scientific Instrument Organization Research Laboratory as a senior project fellow.
